What Women Should Wear to Office -

Dressing smartly at work is important to make a good impression and move up in your career.Last week we looked at how men should dress for the office. This week, it’s the turn of women.

Here are some tips on office wear:

The Basics:

Make sure your outfit is simple without too many frills and multiple layers of clothing. If you choose to wear western clothes, pick a suit for formal occasions. Light-colored shirts with dark suits work well. For young women, slim-cut tunics or slim-cut dresses accompanied with a scarf are also a good option, fashion experts say.On normal days, well-fitted trousers or A-line skirts are fine. But miniskirts aren’t. Ideally, your skirt should be not more than four fingers above the knee. For blouses, choose light colors, and avoid loud prints. Sleeveless blouses are okay. Blouses or shirts that have plunging necklines are a no-no.

Traditional Wear:

Unlike men, who are not expected to wear Indian clothes for  formal office occasions, for women it is welcome. For presentations and seminars, a color-blocked saree works well, say experts. That is the equivalent of wearing a basic black dress.Slightly less formal is a knee-length, straight-cut kameez (long Indian shirt), with a churidar (tight-fitting pants).Again, go for solid colors or light prints, rather than garish prints and sparkles.

Fabric and Color:

Ideally, you want to choose fabrics that doesn’t crumple easily so that your outfit looks good the entire day.So, for instance, you can go with crepe or georgette sarees. In winter, go for hues of blue, black and brown, but you can add a dash of color to your outfit with a solid-color blouse or scarf. In summers, go for pastel colors. Don’t wear shiny material.

Shoes:

Don’t forget to pay attention to your footwear. With western-wear particularly, high heels are considered ideal for a professional look. Not stilettos, but just a couple of inches of heels. If you are not comfortable in those, a good alternative is wedges, which have a broad platform at the heel. However, increasingly, flat shoes are being accepted in the corporate environment. In India, you can get away with shoes with slightly open toes as well. But in a corporate environment, fully open-toed shoes and slippers are not considered appropriate.

Things to remember:

If you choose to wear make-up, keep it subtle. In accessories, a delicate necklace or subtle earrings are fine, but avoid wearing large danglers or other garish accessories.

If you like something from your husband's or dad’s closet and always want to wear it, but do not know how to pair it up, I will show you five different tricks to wear oversized menswear. Men's clothing is oversized for a woman and with a few simple tricks you can actually wear it and create a style statement.

For this look, all you need is an oversized T-shirt. Start by gathering the bottom of the shirt slightly off centre in your hand, and then twist it to make a knot. This can be paired with your jeans or skirt. This will only take two minutes and you will look like a fashionista.

Jacket Style

You can use any shirt from a guy's closet. Wear it with your dress or shorts and T-Shirt, just by rolling the sleeves a little up and open button. It will give a very casual and street chic look.

The Shirt Dress

This one is my personal favourite. All you need is any oversized shirt, whichever you like. Take your favourite belt  and wear it on your waist with matching shoes. Adding a belt will give the shirt a structure rather than giving it an oversized and shapeless look.

Pair it with High Waist

Adding any high waist bottom with your oversized top will help give the outfit an hourglass shape. This way you can give the men T-Shirt or shirt, a chic look.

Off Shoulder Style

Pull the shirt down from just one shoulder to show a little skin - in a totally classy way. Wear it with your shorts and sneakers. It will give a very carefree and relaxed look.

Pros And Cons Of A Winter Wedding In Delhi

Setting a wedding date is never an easy task; there are so many things that the soon-to-be married couples and their families have to look into. In India, most weddings usually take place during the summer or the winter season, when most auspicious mahurats happen to fall. Both these wedding seasons have some advantages and disadvantages, not just for the couple, but for the guests as well.
ADVANTAGES
Winters in India are just lovely. Whether you are the bride, the groom or a wedding guest, you can don all those gorgeous outfits and makeup without the fear of sweat trickling down your skin and destroying it all. The climate is cool and very comfortable, and everyone can look forward to enjoying the wedding without worrying about the heat. For a winter wedding, your choices are not confined to dull marriage halls. You can opt to have a park, beach, or backyard wedding, with nature as a colourful backdrop. It is easier to get creative with wedding venues and decor during the winter days, whether it is daytime wedding or a night time celebration.Winters are a perfect time to bring out the rich silk and velvet wears. Whether you are getting married or attending one, feel free to explore the royal fabrics and heavy embroideries. It is not only a perfect way to save yourself from the chilly weather, but also don them freely without worrying about heat and sweat.
DISADVANTAGES
Apart from the high-booking costs, you might have to shell out extra to ensure that your guests stay warm during the wedding. From making arrangements for warm shawls, angeethis, heaters to sometimes even shifting the wedding indoors, can be some of the things you might have to think over during the winter season. Ladies, if you love showcasing your shapely arms, flat bellies, and spotless backs in all the short and backless cholis, then you might have to re-think of choosing the winter season to have a wedding or attending one. You might brave the chill with your fashion determination, but will you be able to sustain that brave smile all night long? Since we are mentioning all the pros and cons, we just couldn’t leave this one out. Winter is the exam season in the country, for almost all schools and colleges. This can be a problem for the younger cousins and relatives with young kids, as most people tend to skip the weddings.
